5 Ways to Make Better Goals
Quit setting shitty goals! I love your enthusiasm but some of your goals need a makeover. Here are my 5 best tips to set goals with self-compassion that will create high-vibe energy versus overwhelm and doubt.
1️⃣ Make sure your goals are for you, not them.
Setting any goal to impress, get back at, or prove yourself to anyone else is wasting your precious energy. Would you set this goal if you couldn’t tell anyone you hit it?
2️⃣ Hitting your goal should not depend on others.
As a coach, I thought I knew how to set goals, but when I switched to making my goals completely dependent on ME, the game was changed. Example: Instead of setting my goal to book 10 podcasts in 6 weeks, I scratched that and made it to pitch 5 podcasts a week for 6 weeks. I have complete control over how many I pitch, but not how many say “Yes”.
3️⃣ Set goals as guidelines.
Maybe you move them up, or maybe you shift them back, but having that concept in mind keeps you from getting stuck and caught up in a rigid plan. Look how 2020 turned out. There is no way to know what’s in store so be willing and able to shift.
4️⃣ Include celebrations.
You have to be your own cheerleader. Don’t hold out on yourself by only recognizing the big wins. It’s the small ones that get you to the big ones and the moment you start celebrating them is the moment you start enjoying your journey.
5️⃣ Frame the Big Picture in your mind.
Keep that sucker in a gold frame my friend! It’s easy to get caught in the details and stuck on an emotional roller coaster. Let your big picture be your guiding light and let the details work themselves out.
Many women confide in me that they don’t know exactly what lights them up, what aligned life and mindset they are after. I help women slow down, so they can ditch stress without guilt. If anything in you is ready to for a different way, let’s talk.
